MAX Series Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer. High resolution and high mass options for a wide range of applications in physics, chemistry and materials research.
The MAX Series quadrupole mass spectrometers are the industry's highest specification instruments for cutting edge research. They are compact, bolt-on quadrupole mass spectrometers with a comprehensive range of application specific configurations for atomic and molecular physics and chemistry experiments including;

- Temperature programmed desorption
- Static and dynamic SIMS/SNMS
- Laser molecule interactions
- Photoionization
- UHV and XHV Outgassing studies
- Molecular beam studies
- Helium scattering
- Cluster analysis
The MAX Series quadrupole mass spectrometers may be configured with the high performance 9.5mm triple filter quadrupole rod set or the 19mm triple filter quadrupole rod set, delivering far superior sensitivity, abundance sensitivity, transmission and resolution characteristics than the smaller quadrupoe rod sets available from all other manufacturers.
MAX Series Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer Configuration Options:
- 9.5mm or 19mm high transmission and resolution triple filter quadrupole
- Mass range options from 60amu to 16,000amu (see tables below)
- Positive ion and negative ion measurement
- Appearance potential and electron attachment modes for neutrals and radicals
- Dual analogue and ion counting detector for highest dynamic range
- Conversion dynode
- Pole bias mid-axis potential
- Einzel lens optics
- Axial and right angle sampling configurations
- 1E-16mbar detection capability
- Tandem source with high transmission energy filter with <0.5eV energy resolution
- Photoionization cross beam source
- Enclosed CI source

Mass Range, Sensitivity, Abundance Sensitivity, Resolution, and Transmission are determined by the quadrupole rod size and the RF operating frequency. Our 19mm quadrupole operating at 60amu for example exhibits excellent peak separation and abundance sensitivity and can easily separate helium and deuterium at just 0.025amu apart.
The tables below provides a specification comparison as a guide to choosing the correct performance instrument for your particular application.
